The transfer portal has officially eviscerated Belmont.

Cade Tyson, who was Belmont’s third-leading scorer at 16.2 ppg, leading rebounder and the second-best three-pointer shooter by percentage (46) in the country, has entered the transfer portal.

Tyson follows the Bruins’ two other leading scorers, Ja’Kobi Gillespie and Malik Dia, into the portal. Reserve guard Kyler Vanderjagt is also in the portal.

Tyson, who was the Missouri Valley Conference freshman of the year, was considered a threat to transfer after that outstanding first season. However, he returned and formed a excellent three-man unit with Gillespie and Dia.

If all of them actually transfer, Belmont will have lost all its starters from its final game. The only two players returning who were part of the regular rotation would be swingman Isaiah Walker and big man Brigham Rodgers. Freshman guard Win Miller also played some.

Two freshman front-court players who redshirted because of injuries, Sam Orme and Drew Scharnowski, would be available.

Incoming freshman include guard Cooper Haynes, guard Jabez Jenkins and forward Eoin Dillon.
